How Tasty Travel Life handles personal data for the blog, newsletter, affiliate links, maps and embedded travel tools.
Last updated: 8 July 2026
Tasty Travel Life is a personal travel and recipe blog run by an individual, not a company. This policy explains what personal data I collect, why I use it and what choices you have.
Who runs this site
Controller: Mendy Zaal, publishing as Tasty Travel Life.
Contact email: privacy@tastytravellife.com. Country of residence: France.
Personal data I may collect
- Newsletter data: your email address, chosen language, opt-in status, confirmation timestamps and unsubscribe status through Brevo.
- Technical and security data: IP address, user agent, request metadata, server logs and anti-abuse data. Newsletter rate limiting may use your IP address and a hashed version of your email address.
- Messages: any personal data you include when you contact me by email, form or social media.
- Affiliate and referral data: when you click an affiliate or referral link, the redirect service and the partner site may receive technical click data and may set their own cookies or tracking technologies.
- Maps and embedded content: the core interactive travel map uses OpenFreeMap/MapLibre and may send technical data such as IP address, browser details and page URL when the map loads. Optional embeds such as Google Maps, Booking.com, GetYourGuide and Travelpayouts widgets load only after you allow maps and travel widgets in cookie settings.
- Analytics and marketing tags: no analytics or marketing tags are currently enabled.
Why I use personal data
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To send the newsletter after you have confirmed your subscription.
- To respond when you contact me.
- To show maps, travel widgets, booking tools and other embedded content.
- To understand whether affiliate links are useful and to receive commission where applicable.
- To comply with legal obligations and keep basic records.
Legal bases
I rely on consent for the newsletter and for non-essential cookies or tracking technologies where consent is required. I rely on legitimate interests to run a secure website, prevent abuse, maintain basic logs and fund the blog through clearly disclosed affiliate links. I may also process data where required by law.
Who processes data
The site may use service providers such as Brevo for email, Sanity for content and media hosting, Vercel for hosting, Cloudflare for DNS/security, affiliate networks and redirect partners, OpenFreeMap/MapLibre, Google Maps, Booking.com, GetYourGuide and Travelpayouts.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside your country or the European Economic Area. Where required, this should be covered by adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms used by those providers.
Retention
- Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, unless a longer period is needed for legal records.
- Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to handle the message and for up to 24 months after the last exchange, unless a longer period is needed for legal reasons.
- Technical logs are kept for up to 30 days, unless a longer period is needed for security investigation or legal reasons.
- Cookie consent records are kept for 180 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, object to some processing and withdraw consent. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in each email. You can contact me at privacy@tastytravellife.com. You may also complain to CNIL, the French data protection authority.
Children
This site is not aimed at children. If you believe a child has shared personal data with me, contact me so I can delete it where required.
Changes
I may update this policy when the site, tools or legal requirements change. The date above shows the latest version.
